Race Date
Our featured race of the evening comes courtesy of a special election for Louisiana’s House District 60, as voters in Assumption and Iberville parishes head to the polls to choose a new state representative. This contest fills the seat left vacant when Democrat Chad Brown resigned in November after his appointment to lead the state’s Alcohol and Tobacco Control office, ending a decade-plus tenure representing the district.
On the ballot are Democrat Chasity Verret Martinez, a current Iberville Parish Council member, and Republican Brad Daigle, an insurance agent and Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission member. The election is part of a broader set of special legislative contests across the state today; five in total but this is the only one that features candidates from both majority political parties.
Polls close at 9pm ET and live results will be available shortly after.
