Race Date
Tonight’s special runoff in Texas’s 18th Congressional District will decide who fills the long-vacant House seat representing heavily Democratic parts of Houston, a district that includes downtown and historic neighborhoods and has been safely blue for decades. The election was triggered after Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner passed away in March 2025, and a crowded November special election produced no majority winner, setting up today’s head-to-head between Democrats Christian Menefee and Amanda Edwards.
Polls close at 8pm ET, and results are expected to come in sporadically throughout the night.
