Race Date
Today, Democratic voters in New Jersey’s 11th District are choosing their nominee in a crowded special primary to fill the U.S. House seat vacated by Gov. Mikie Sherrill, who resigned after her gubernatorial victory. Thirteen Democrats are competing for the nomination in a district that has shifted toward the Democratic Party in recent cycles, covering parts of Essex, Morris and Passaic counties. Leading contenders include former U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, progressive activist Analilia Mejia with endorsements from national left-wing figures, and former Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way.
Polls close at 8pm ET and a drop of both the early and absentee vote are expected soon after.
